Dices
A downloadable app for Windows
Dices is a tiny, always-on-top desktop dice roller for tabletop and pen-and-paper play. It floats a small window over your notes and rulebook PDFs so your dice are always one click away.
Features:
• Custom tray of individual dice — each with a type, an optional name, and a color
• Grouping and rearranging — access your dice the way you want it
• Roll one die, or roll all, with a quick number-tumble animation
• Running total and a roll history (last 50 rolls)
• Configurable die types: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, d100, plus custom dN
• Always-on-top, frameless, and resizable — remembers its size, position, and your dice between launches
• Fair rolls via crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling (no modulo bias)
Windows installer (.msi / .exe). Requires WebView2, which is preinstalled on Windows 10 and 11.
A note on Windows SmartScreen: Dices is not code-signed. I'm a hobby developer, and a code-signing certificate costs more than this small, free tool can justify. Because of that, Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen when you run the installer. This is expected for unsigned apps from independent developers — to install, click "More info", then "Run anyway".
